MICSFFood Safety
— Operating principle

Food safety isn’t a checkbox. It’s how we operate.

Operated by Taylor Logistics — roots back to 1850, dedicated food-safety focus since 1970. Whether you’re storing food products or temperature-sensitive goods that never touch a plate, your product, brand, and customers deserve a partner who takes protection seriously.

POWERED BY TAYLOR LOGISTICS

175 years of moving freight. 55 years of food-safety focus.

MICSF is operated by Taylor Logistics — a seven-generation, family-run logistics company with roots going back to 1850, and a dedicated focus on food-safety management since 1970. That depth of experience drives every protocol, every audit, and every standard we uphold.

At MICSF, that legacy is formalized through full compliance with the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), Safe Quality Food (SQF) certification, FDA regulations, and HACCP principles. These aren’t minimums we meet. They’re the foundation we build on.

EST. 1850

Taylor Logistics founded

Seven generations of family-run operations across freight, warehousing, and 3PL services.

1970

Food-safety management division

Dedicated focus on protocol-driven food storage and temperature integrity — a half-century of refinement.

2024

MICSF brand-new build

A purpose-built fresh and frozen facility in Portland, Maine — engineered to current GFSI and SQF standards from day one.

CERTIFICATIONS & FRAMEWORKS

The frameworks we operate against.

The most rigorous food-safety standards in the industry — documented, audited, and built into the daily operating procedure of every shift.

CERT · FOOD-GRADE

SQF (Safe Quality Food)

Third-party audited certification recognized globally. Covers facility, process, product, and people — with annual unannounced audits and continuous improvement requirements.

FRAMEWORK

GFSI Compliance

Operating under the Global Food Safety Initiative — the benchmark recognized by major retailers, manufacturers, and import/export programs across the world.

REGULATORY

FDA Registered

Registered food facility under the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). Sanitary transportation, preventive controls, and traceability requirements baked into daily ops.

METHODOLOGY

HACCP Principles

Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points applied across receiving, storage, picking, and shipping. Documented critical limits, monitoring, and corrective-action protocols.

PARTNERSHIP

USDA Coordination

Direct partnership with customers on USDA requirements — including USDA-CVD (Certificate of Veterinary Documentation), inspection coordination, and import/export documentation for animal-origin products.

PHARMA-READY

GDP Alignment

Refrigerated cold-chain operated to Good Distribution Practice alignment for pharmaceutical and life-science cargo. Documented chain of custody from dock to dispatch.

POWERED BY SYNAPSE WMS

Lot tracking and expiration management, built into the system.

Food safety isn’t a once-a-year audit at MICSF — it’s enforced at every transaction by Synapse WMS by Made4Net.

Synapse incorporates comprehensive lot tracking, expiration management, and both FEFO and FIFO rotation strategies. Products are always handled on priority based on expiration date and arrival time — with full traceability from receiving to ship.

LOT-LEVEL TRACEABILITY

Lot Tracking

Every product is meticulously tracked by lot number for complete traceability. Inventory rotation managed efficiently — recall-ready, audit-ready, every day.

EXPIRATION CONTROL

Expiration Management

Synapse proactively monitors expiration dates and prioritizes products by FEFO — items nearing expiration are moved first. Non-perishables run FIFO to minimize waste.

REAL-TIME VISIBILITY

24/7 Customer Portal

Clients access detailed lot, expiration, and temperature logs through Synapse Anywhere — complete transparency for compliance verification any time.

ROTATION METHODS

FEFO & FIFO — enforced by the system, not the operator.

Picks are directed by Synapse based on rotation rules configured per SKU. The floor follows the system; the system follows your spec.

FEFO
First Expired, First Out
For perishables — product nearest expiration is selected first to maximize remaining shelf life downstream.
FIFO
First In, First Out
For non-perishables — oldest receipt rotates first to maintain freshness and minimize waste.
TEMPERATURE INTEGRITY

Cold from the dock to the rack.

Documented protocols, audit-ready records, and hardware engineered to keep cold air where it belongs — in the room, in the trailer, on your product.

/01

State-of-the-art refrigeration

Natural CO₂ refrigeration system maintains precise, consistent temperatures across both storage zones — engineered for performance and lower environmental impact than legacy refrigerants.

/02

Audits, certifications & SOPs

Documented Standard Operating Procedures, third-party audit reports, and certification records are available to customers on request — supporting your own compliance and audit obligations.

/03

Sealed dock doors

Purpose-built cold-storage dock doors with tight perimeter seals and insulated cores. Designed to prevent air leakage and energy loss in high-traffic load/unload conditions.

DOCUMENTATION · AVAILABLE ON REQUEST

Audit reports, SOPs, and certification records — ready for your compliance team.

SQF audit summaries, HACCP plans, and SOPs available to customers on request. Forward to your auditor. Done.
